I think we've got to confront a few things about ourselves in light of new pictures from Iraq.
First, it was easy to say that the actions in the first round of pictures were the work of a few who should have known better but didn't. Clearly, that was not the case. We now know that the Red Cross had reported these abuses at many sites, much prior to the time the photos were taken. More important, little if anything was done to correct these horrific conditions.
But more troublesome, now we here that these things happen during war and under our present circumstance, they should be expected.
My Lord,
What have we become?
